OCPP Proxy explained
Updated over 2 weeks ago

Chargers can connect to services via OCPP. But chargers can only connect to one service at the same time, and it may be difficult to configure.

To solve this problem, you can use the Volt Time OCPP Proxy to effortlessly connect your charger to one or multiple systems.

How the OCPP Proxy works

Volt Time Cloud (left) runs in parallel to other services.

Additionally, services can run through the Volt Time cloud using our API.

How to configure the OCPP Proxy for your charger

Web portal

  1. Go to Chargers>Proxy

  2. Click "Add server"

  3. Choose a preset or enter a custom Websocket URL

  4. Select which service will be the Leader. The Leader will accept or reject charging cards. There can be only one Leader.

If you connect a service for billing purposes, you should make that service Leader.

You can still add the same charge cards to Volt Time Cloud to enjoy Plug & Charge and remote starting via the app, but the card must be known and accepted by the billing provider.
