Meters explained

What are meters, what they are for and which are supported

Updated yesterday

Meters are used for dynamic Power Management:

  • Dynamic Load Balancing

  • Solar Balancing

  • Peak Shaving

  • Dynamic Power Sharing

We do this via internet. No physical connection to the charger is required.

Connecting a meter to your location

You can add a meter to the location's main fuse in the app. For larger and complex installations, where metering of sub-groups is needed, you should turn to the Web Portal.

App

Go to Overview > Main Fuse and press Add Meter.

Web Portal

Go to Locations > View > Power Management. Press on a group and then press Add Meter.

After the meter is added to the location's Power Management, everything on the Plugchoice side is ready. You may still need to do some setup seperately for the meter itself, depending on the meter used, such as connecting it to the internet.

Supported meters

Sparky P1 Dongle (by Chargee)

Sparky is a dongle that you can plug into your Smart Meter's P1 port.

Requirements

  • Your Smart Meter must be (D)SMR4.0 or higher.

  • Sparky must connect to a 2.4GHz WiFi network. The maximum range is about 10-20 meters uninterrupted.

  • Sometimes, you must connect Sparky to the included USB-C power adapter.
