Using Autostart

Autostart explained and how to set it up.

Updated this week

Autostart is a setting for your charger. If you plug in the car, the charger will automatically start charging.

This is useful because you don't need to scan your card anymore. As anyone can use your charger when Autostart is enabled, you may want to use this in combination with the Lock Connector setting.

How to set Autostart

First, you have to add a card to the location. This is because with Autostart, the charger will virtually scan a card.

App

Go to Chargers > Access.

Web Portal

Go to Chargers > View > Settings.

To enable, set Autostart to ON. Select the card to charge with. The charger will now automatically charge on this card when you connect the car.

To disable, set it to OFF. The charger will now require card scanning to start charging.

Frequently Asked

Will by automatic billing still work?

Yes, if you use a billing operator, your energy costs will still be reimbursed. Just make sure you select the right card.

Can anyone use my charger when it has Autostart?

Yes. If you feel uncomfortable, you can just use Lock Connector while you're away.

Why do I need to add a card with Autostart?

Plugchoice (and billing operators) always want to know which card is used for the transaction. Even if you are not doing any billing. This is for administrative and authorization purposes. It's very easy to add a card, and any RFID card will work!

My charging stops immediately, why?

The card you selected is probably not known by your billing operator. Make sure the card is known and authorized by them.
