Using Lock Charger

What Lock Charger does and how to use it.

Updated over a week ago

Lock Charger is a feature that sets all of a charger's connectors to Unavailable, so it can't be used. This can be useful for:

  • End-users: Protect chargers against unauthorized use (useful if you use Autostart).

  • Installers: Prevent charger(s) from being used while you finish your work.s

When you connect a charger in Plugchoice which is not configured, Plugchoice will automatically lock its connector(s) until it's configured.

How to Lock Connector

App

Go to Chargers > Lock.

Web portal

Go to Chargers > View > Settings > Lock.

Setting this to ON will lock the charger, meaning:

  • The connectors will be set to Unavailable

  • Nobody can charge on this charger

What Lock Charger really does

The connectors will be set to the "Unavailable" connector state. If your charger is connected to an operator, they can see that the connectors are unavailable.

Most chargers will have their LED turn red or off in this state. Chargers with a display may display a big red cross.
