Managing location members and ownership

About location membership, data permissions and ownership

Updated today

Teams (so companies or personal teams) can be members of a location. All accounts that are part of said teams can then view, manage and control chargers in that location, depending on their level of access provided.

Inviting members

You can invite members to join your location. You can only do this if you're the owner of the location, or if you have full data access (see below).

This is also how you transfer ownership of the location to someone else.

Pluggy

First, make sure you're in the correct location by going to Overview and checking the top left of your screen. If you see the wrong address there, you can press the address. This will open the location switcher and you can navigate to the correct location.

Then go to Overview > Account > Members and press Invite Member.

After inviting the new member, a QR code appears on your screen which they can also scan with their phone to instantly join the location.

Web Portal

Go to Locations > View > Members and press Invite Member.

After you invite the member, will receive an invitation link in their email which they can press to join the location. The change will only become effective after they've accepted the invitation to join.

It doesn't matter if you used the wrong email address, as the member can simply log in with the correct account and join your location with an account of their choosing.

Managing members, data access and ownership

So, teams can be members of a location. What they get to see and do, depends on their level of data access.

We recommend that you always give your installer full access, so they can quickly help you with any problems you're facing.

There are 3 levels of data access:

Data access

Basic access

Revoke access

It is possible to modify the data access levels for existing members.

Pluggy

Go to Locations > View > Members and press on a member's name to transfer ownership, change their data access or remove them from the location.

Web Portal

Go to Locations > View > Members and press Edit to transfer ownership or change their data access. Press Remove to remove the member from the location entirely.

Asset access for tenants

It's also possible to give members full data access, but only for specific chargers. This is useful if you are managing a location with multiple chargers, each with their own dedicated user/owner.

For instance, if you are chair of a Home Owner's Association, you set yourself as owner and invite tenants as members with full data access and limited asset access.

Specifying asset access is currently only possible in Web Portal.

Web Portal

Go to Locations > View > Members and press Edit to re-determine their data and asset access or press Remove to remove the member from the location entirely.

Joining an existing location

If you have basic data access but want full data access, you can navigate to the location press Request Access.

If you are not member of a location and wish to become one, you must ask the owner to invite you.
